Pain is a personal physical and emotional experience. Pain may be acute related to recent injury or stimulus, chronic related to illness or intractable pain from a past injury. Pain arises from any number of situations. It may accompany a psychological condition, such as anxiety or depression, or may even occur in the absence of a recognizable trigger all together. 

Objectives

•    Explore pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches to pain management
•    Discuss treatment of neuropathic pain
•    Discuss the types and indications for nerve blocks
•    Review recommendations for staff, patient and family education regarding pain management & assessment
